International Programs Overview
Norwood Morialta High School has a proud tradition for academic excellence and provides a world-class learning experience within a supportive, culturally rich environment. The school is currently located on two campuses with a specialist middle campus catering for students in Years 8 to 10 and a dedicated senior campus for Years 11 and 12 students, but will be moving to one site in 2022. It has a large International Student Program which is highly regarded both locally and globally. International students from all over the world are welcome and valued as important members of our school community, offering diversity in the curriculum, community and culture of the school.
International Students who study at Norwood Morialta High School are supported by members of the Executive Leadership Team, the International Programs Leader, International Student Support Officer, Wellbeing Leaders, Learning Community Leaders and highly experienced, compassionate teaching staff, many of whom are bilingual.
Students live in Homestay Accommodation with homestay families who are organised and approved by the South Australian Government Schools International Education Services (IES) department and supported by the school.

ESOS legislative framework
The Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000, or ESOS Act, establishes legislative requirements and standards for the quality assurance of education and training institutions offering courses to international students who are in Australia on a student visa. ESOS also provides tuition fee protection for international students.

Norwood Morialta High School enrols students into a number of programs designed for students from overseas which are outlined below.
High School Graduate Program (HSG)
At Norwood Morialta High School, overseas students studying the High School Graduate Program complete the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) which prepares them for University and further education studies either in Adelaide, interstate or overseas. Students can choose from an extensive range of subjects that cater for individual interests, specialised learning and future focussed careers. Students can begin their graduate program at Norwood Morialta High School in Years 10 or 11.
Norwood Morialta High School offers enrolments into the Graduate Program at Years 10 & 11. Students may need to complete ten to twenty weeks in the Intensive Secondary English Course (ISEC), which is available at our school, prior to entering the High School Graduate Program.

Intensive Secondary English Course (ISEC)
The ISEC Program at Norwood Morialta High School is offered to students transitioning to years 10 or 11 who need to develop their English language proficiency before they enter the High School Graduate Program.
The ISEC program at Norwood Morialta High School has a focus on developing the student’s English to better prepare them for transition into mainstream classes. It is also designed to provide knowledge of the Australian environment and society and to familiarise international students with schooling in Australia.

While border restrictions are in place, Norwood Morialta High School remains committed to providing an education for international students offshore through the Connect Programs, delivered in a virtual classroom environment.
When circumstances allow, we will again, be able to welcome international students to Norwood Morialta High School onshore for face-to-face learning.

ISEC Connect focuses on developing the student’s English to better prepare them for transition into mainstream classes.
Stage 1 SACE Connect:
This program will build on the skills, knowledge and subject specific language developed in ISEC to prepare you for a transition into mainstream classes.

Study Abroad Program (SAP)
Overseas students may join our High School Study Abroad program for periods from three months to one year and can study subjects that may not be offered in their own school. Students learn about Australian culture, improve their English and integrate with local students.

Norwood Morialta High School hosts short term visits of one to two weeks for groups of students from overseas schools. Programs are tailored for each group and usually involve English lessons, cultural excursions, a school experience program and subjects such as Art, Food and Hospitality, STEM and Physical Education.

Despite border restrictions, Norwood Morialta High School continues to host study tours virtually, a testament to our innovation and flexibility.

Sister School Trips & Global Partnerships
Students at Norwood Morialta High School are encouraged to participate in overseas tours either as a member of a student group or an individual student exchange. Such opportunities allow them to improve their linguistic proficiency in the language they are studying, enrich their international and intercultural knowledge and perspectives, as well as develop their leadership skills, self-confidence, independence and personal growth.

Professional Development for Overseas Educators
Norwood Morialta High School successfully hosts Professional Development programs for International Leaders and Educators. Programs are flexible and organised according to the needs of the visiting group.
Individual teacher training programs are also offered via Language Assistance Programs and teacher work shadowing or observation programs. Homestay for individual teachers may be supported by the school.

In the Senior School (Years 11-12), students complete the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE).
There is an extensive range of subjects available at our school which allow for both personal and academic achievement.
To enable us to better provide the subjects of your choice, we ask that Study Abroad Program and High School Graduate Students entering directly into mainstream classes to:
- Peruse the subject options for your year level (Stage 1 is Year 11 and Stage 2 is year 12) in the Online Curriculum Guide and research the courses that you may be interested in studying at Norwood Morialta High School.
- Select subjects you wish to study. Please provide up to 10 preferences as some courses may not be available. Email your list of subjects to email@example.com.
